Tech pack
A technical or tech pack acts as a production manual, helping prevent errors during sampling and production. It includes technical drawings, measurements, and component details, allowing the manufacturer to accurately replicate your design and produce a more precise quote. This quote will help you work out the price per unit. If the unit cost is too high, you can adjust the design by changing materials or removing embellishments to reduce costs.
The tech pack needs to include the following:
Drawings and photos: Including your brand name with technical notes, annotated flat drawings showing the back and front of the product
Design details: Such as stitching, with colour information, and placement of each component such as straps, embroidery, prints, patterns or fastenings
Quantity and measurements: Product dimensions, size, and the quantities of the product
Materials: The required material with the name, colour, composition and any packaging requirements
Copyright statement: Include in the footer of each page to protect the artist’s ICIP
The below image is provided as a sample tech pack for illustrative purposes only. Specifications, measurements, and design details do not represent a finalised or production-ready design.

To note: Manufacturers use a tech pack like a contract of your bulk order. If you change anything to the design during the sampling phase, it needs to be noted in the tech pack and re-sent. It’s important to have a date on the tech pack, so everyone knows they’re looking at the most up-to-date version.
